Backgammon Strategy Tips

Backgammon is a strategy game, in which attention plays an important role, but chance also is essential. The difference between losers and winners consists in understanding the main rules of the game. The winners consider the game a combination of skill and luck. They know which piece has to be moved, even if apparently their move is a mistake. Thus, successful Backgammon players can determine their opponents to make more mistakes. The game needs a lot of skill in order to be properly played - and the players have to manage the mistakes they made.

These tips for Backgammon game have the purpose to assure you the best points and consequently to improve your chances to be successful. These tips or secrets of the game can be applied both for the real game and for the online game.

1. For those who don't know - you may always redouble the stake. When your opponent doubles, you may redouble again any time when it is your turn to throw the dice. For example, consider a three-point match in which the opponent's score is one to nil. The opponent doubles, and you accept. When you throw the next dice, it is always good to redouble. Don't you have anything to lose? If you lose the game - you will lose the match, too, so is it better to be sure that you win the match if you win the game?

2. When you are slow during a competition, usually it is a mistake to abandon a strategic supporting point. To wait for a suitable throw may be your unique chance to win.

3. When you are not decided, just hit. A hit is a good choice in many cases, especially if you hit into your opponent's home, where he is the most vulnerable. Then, the opponent can stay a long time on the line, alternatively.

4. When you are slow in a competition and you wait for a lucky throw, make points in your home, in a suitable order.

5. Be always careful to extend the busy places, especially those which are multiple of six. It may be done an exception when you take the chance to be put behind such a first home.

6. When you have to leave a place, put your pieces where they will have the best influence upon your match if they are not hit.

7. Early during the game, try to avoid putting your pieces on inferior, insignificant points. This will limit your moves later on during the play. Sometimes it may be correct, but if you have a good alternative, try not to put your pieces on your 1 and 2 points too early.

Online Gambling Backgammon Colony

If you play a two- point game or you reached a score in which both players need two points in order to win (for example one to one in a three-point match, or three to three in a five-point game) it is usually a good thing to double if you have an opportunity. If you play with an obviously better opponent, you should double any time when you have an advantage, it doesn't matter if it is very insignificant. The opponent will double later on, for sure if he does get an advantage, but you might not realize later when the high time you could double is. Don't be afraid to change the game in what is called simple 1 point game.
